|
Whispering Pines is a community of over 1,300 beautiful homes built
around magnificent golf courses and sequestered among six sparkling
lakes with thousands of stately long and short leaf Pine trees,
colorful Dogwood, Azaleas,
and Hollies. There are over 300 lakefront homes and lakeside
properties on six pristine lakes, including Pine Lake, Shadow Lake,
Whisper Lake, Spring Valley Lake, Thagard's Lake and Fly Rod Lake.
All the lakes are owned by the Village and are for use of the residents, property owners
and their guests. Lake access areas are available
for all lakes and all are stocked with bass and bream.
Village residents have access to any of the lakes and lakefront lots
have private docks. All but Thagard’s Lake are restricted to electric
motors and sailboats, helping to preserve the integrity of the lakes. |

In 1969 Whispering
Pines become the first municipality in the state to be officially designated
as a village. The Village Ordinances, which contain some of the best
planning and
zoning laws in the state, ensure the care and quality of the
development of the Village, both now and in the
future. Due to the lack of commercial sections, |

Whispering Pines is a
2500-acre incorporated, residential village as opposed to a town and
is governed by an elected council of five members. Village services
include, among other things, 24-hour police protection, fire
protection, garbage collection, road maintenance, and lake
maintenance. Because
it is incorporated, Whispering Pines shares North Carolina state tax
revenues which results in a modest tax rate.
Within
the
Village
of Whispering Pines is the
Whispering Pines Country Club with dining rooms, bar and pro shops,
tennis courts and
swimming pool. Membership is optional for property owners. There is
another
golf club with an 18-hole course is also available for membership.
The towns of
Southern Pines and
Pinehurst are minutes
away and offer excellent restaurants, modern shopping plazas, and
small quaint specialty shops. Nearby
Sandhills Community College
offers a wide variety of lectures, concerts and exhibits, including
one of the most popular
horticultural gardens in the state.
Only five miles from the Village is
FirstHealth Moore Regional
Hospital. FirstHealth is a modern full service facility that is
rated in the top 100 in the nation with an oncology wing affiliated
with Duke University Hospital. Offices and clinics of a variety of
medical specialists are part of the broad spectrum of medical care
within the FirstHealth Moore Regional area. And adjacent to the Whispering Pines corporate limits is the
Moore
County Airport.
With some of the best
public schools in the area, the quiet charm, golf, lake activities and
Country Club lifestyle of
Whispering Pines appeals to both families and active
retirees. |
